ZRP CONFIRMS ARREST FOR POSSESSION OF HUMAN REMAINS

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirms the arrest of Alfred Chinjiva (28) in connection with the unlawful possession of human skulls and other human remains.


The suspect was initially arrested on 2 February 2026 at a mine in Bindura for possession of articles of criminal use after being found in possession of a dummy pistol. Following the arrest, police conducted a search at the suspect’s residence in Chipandura Park, where human remains were discovered.


Recovered items include two human skulls, one of which had visible cuts at the back and was wrapped in a yellow cloth, while the other was wrapped in a red cloth. Police also recovered a single bone wrapped in red cloth, two buckets containing bones wrapped in green, yellow, black and blue cloths, as well as three plastic containers holding soil mixed with suspected human bones and hair.


Investigations into the matter are ongoing, and the ZRP will release further details in due course.
